Our hike starts from the historic and traditional village of Kritsa. Kritsa is one of the largest villages of Crete, located in the prefecture of Lasithi and is built amphitheatrically at the foot of Kastellos Mountain. The village has about 1,300 inhabitants (2011). It is 9 km from Agios Nikolaos.

From the village, we will follow a path that leads us into the homonymous gorge. During the crossing of the gorge, we will be given the opportunity to get in touch with nature, admire the geological diversity of the area and walk among imposing rocks and narrow passages.

Then, we will follow a circular route, towards our starting point, through an ancient path that formerly connected the ancient city of Lato with the port of Agios Nikolaos.

Optional:

  • Visit Panagia Kera church.
  • Have a drink or lunch at the village square.
