After a comfortable pick-up from your hotel, your journey begins with a scenic drive to the verdant heart of Crete, where Patsos Gorge awaits. Also known as Agios Antonios Gorge, this short but enchanting 1.5 km hike leads you through a narrow canyon filled with towering cliffs, natural springs, and lush vegetation.
You’ll walk across rustic wooden bridges, past mossy boulders and through shaded groves of plane trees, with the sound of flowing water accompanying you. The route is easy to moderate, and we provide all necessary hiking equipment to ensure your comfort and safety.
A highlight of the gorge is the ancient cave-chapel of Agios Antonios, a spiritual site with roots stretching back to Minoan times. Visitors still light candles here, adding to the mystical atmosphere that fills this sacred landscape.
Following your hike, we’ll drive to the nearby Arkadi Monastery, one of the most important monuments of Cretan history. Known for its pivotal role in the Cretan resistance during the Ottoman occupation, this 16th-century monastery combines Renaissance architecture, stunning views, and powerful storytelling. Your guide will walk you through its emotional past and present cultural significance.
